GIVING THANKS

PHOTO PROPERTY OF MPCA.NET

Hello friends and fam!

Well, it's the holiday season once again. As we turn our thoughts to family, friends and the many ways we have been blessed please take the time to remember those who have not been so lucky. I know that times are hard for all of us, but there is always a way to help others in need. If you can't make a donation, volunteer, if you can't volunteer the remember to pray for those in need.

And don't forget, people are ALWAYS in need, all year round and not just during the holidays.
In light of the season I will be on hiatus from updating this blog. Expect me back on the 25th of January and I pray by then the radio show will be back as well!

In keeping with the theme of this blog, I am going to post Written's blog for this month which has to do with the artists responsibility to his community and his world. I hope you will enjoy.

Happy Holidays from The Verb!
L. and Written

Hey people it’s Written!

First, I give glory to the almighty God through his son Jesus Christ. I love music and the world needs more responsible music. The world needs more responsible people to stand up instead of sitting down. However, how can we put out positive, responsible music when the audience isn’t buying it?

A lot of people say if you love it you don’t need to make money off of it. I agree, yet you still have to eat. Now, if going in the studio was free along with mastering, distribution and promotion, things would be different. Unfortunately, it’s not.

Every time you purchase hip hop or R&B that reduces women to the “B’ word or promotes gangs, crime and flashy living, you tell the industry you don’t want positive music. There are a lot of things going on in this world that artists should be speaking about.

Rush the Stage (If Hip Hop Spoke Vol. 2)
Feed me I’m needy/Livin in poverty got my thoughts being seedy/Being free is a matter of perspective/Bills is piling up life is getting more hectic/rich mothas want to beef on the streets I don’t respect it/Cause them glocks, them bullets, them vests cost a lot of money/And that can stop a family from being hungry/Every time you throw up Cris that’s money down the drain/At a grand a bottle that dough could take away a some families pain/What the heck was you thinking?/The hood starving, you buyin the bar to keep people, drink/What you think we riot for?/Not the rich but the ones who are forced to live poor/Welfare only pay so much/And right now the knot in your hands about to get your ass touched/Ya arm and ya jugular crushed/Don’t fuck with us/You, you, you know what’s up

CHORUS x2
In the middle of the city’s chaos and rage/When the struggle for whatever is the constant wage/Tell em Rush the Stage/Tell em Rush the Stage

The verses are self explanatory, but some won’t get it. A Lot of people are on microphones selling pipe dreams while my people live in poverty. But as the Bible says, “What good is it if a man gains the whole world and loses his own soul?”

Too many people starving and too many rappers feeding them lies. Hip hop and R&B, prepare because the Father will remember the greedy who feed off of the needy.
Till next blog stay in Christ’s truth and in peace but give the haters and the devils HELL!

OUT OF SIGHT NOT OUT OF MIND

Hello Friends and Fam!

Hope you have had a great month thus far! As always I have been very busy at being busy LOL. Do you ever find that you have so much to do that it seems you really aren't doing anything at all? These are the times I really have to focus and pray and realize that every little bit gets me closer to the goal.

Speaking of which--I know ya'll are probably wondering when the show is coming back, especially since I mention it in every blog. Don't worry, this is one of the goals that bit by bit I am getting closer to actualizing! Many of you are aware that The Verb and Verb Radio are subsidiaries of EWG aka Ellen Wright Group a creative services company founded by Written and me in 2007. Although bringing our beautiful friends, fam and fans mature, fun sexy radio is one of our biggest priorities, it is not the only project on our plates but just know that we love you and haven't forgotten you and we hope you haven't forgotten us!

This is a short blog for this month since I need to get cracking on those aforementioned projects but I would not let the month pass without saying hello and I miss you!

Be strong and be blessed.
Wishing you harmony!
L. Marrie

KLONDIKES WENDY AND NO INTERNET

GLORY TO GOD CREATOR OF ALL THINGS

Hello friends and fam!

I missed you so so much! If you followed me on Facebook you know about the month long ordeal I had with AT&T turning off my DSL and trying to get it back on. It was long, it was stressful but looks like we made it, so you all know what that means--The Verb is back! Well almost, give us some time to work out the kinks and the radio station you love will be back...bigger, better, faster, stronger and even more entertaining (now who would have thought THAT was possible?).
Written and I have some great things in the works. New books being written by Written including a new book of poetry and 2 edgy Sci-Fi thrillers (and you thought we just did poetry didn't you0. I am also coming out with a new book of poetry tentatively titled Submission and I am also reviving an old screenplay that was started and never finished as well as doing research for a new one so the Dynamic Duo is doin big thangs and all by the grace of God.
So, while I was away from the Internet I had time to explore a lot of new things because as you know life without Internet is boring so let me share a couple of things I discovered...

What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
Well ya'll have seen that commercial, the Klondike bar is supposed to be like the quintessential ice cream treat right? So since I never had one decided to try it. Well ask me what I'd do for a Klondike bar and the answer is--not a damn thing! It was chocolate and ice cream and that's about it. So if any of you think that the Klondike is all that please let me know why. I wasn't impressed.

Wendy Williams
How ya doin girl! Anyway started watching the show during the great darkness (my time without Internet) and I really like it...who knew? I had never really heard her radio show only heard about it and assumed that I didn't like her style or what she stood for, but after watching her TV show I see she is outspoken and she speaks her mind--like me so now I'm a Wendy show fan.

AT&T

I was going to bash them for their service but I'm over it now and one thing I learned from this experience is it's true what your mama said...you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar and prayer works wonders.

So what have you been doing while I've been on hiatus, would love to catch up with everyone so come by our Twitter @verbradio, get face to face on Facebook with verbonradio or hit me up right here on the blog.

Can't wait to be on air again and hope you will all be there to welcome us back!

Peace and Blessings,
L.

WERK IT!

Hi Friends and Fam!
I hope everyone has made a smooth transition back into the school year, it seems like the year is just flying by.
Well, as I'm quite sure you have noticed we are STILL not back on the air. You have AT&T internet service to thank for that, but my saga with them is enough to fill a few blogs so I digress.
So as the title of this blog says, even though the station isn't up and running yet, (don't worry it will be), L. is still putting in WERK in the form of networking! Unfortunately I had to miss the International DJ COnference and the International Soul Music Conferences in the ATL BUT, I will be attending the Western Hip Hop Conference on Saturday, September 4th here in LA. If you would like more information you can click here . I would love to meet and greet you as well as put in some WERK time!
This is only the first public appearance I will be making so keep your eyes and ears open!
Well, that's it for this edition for continued updates until the next blog follow me on Twitter @verbradio and on Facebook verbonradio. Also, new blog by Written is posted so chech that out here. See ya'll soon!

Love,

L.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM WRITTEN

Hi Everyone,
Normally I would have you go to the website www.writtenrapgod.com to read the latest edition of And So It Is Written, however, this was a very special blog that Written wanted to be sure everyone had a chance to read so I am posting it here.

Ep. 2 Melancholy Written
What’s Up Luvs!

Once again it's ya boy Written touching base with all my old and new friends. I want to thank my baby L. Marrie for doing her best at getting the music out. EWG in da house! Well, I want to start out this blog with honesty.

I thank everyone for supporting the music, it warms my heart, but it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t explain something to those supporting me. It's hard to say and even harder to write. We all make mistakes. I made a mistake, however, that will have me in prison for the next 5 years which is why you haven't been hearing much from me.

So for those who have been asking questions and sending comments via email or Facebook, though I have been unable to physically respond the words are mine, they’ve just been typed by L. Marrie. So while I may be in prison my music and my spirit are not!

So encourage your friends to check out the CD If Hip Hop Spoke and the video for Got a Hold On Me. I am still growing as a human being and nothing will stop that. The CD is phenomenal so don’t make the mistake of not being a part of If Hip Hop Spoke. I hope with all sincerity that you and I will grow together. I'm a lion in chains watch me break dem through my music!

Driftwood
We are driftwood riding the waves of life
Not guided but moved by strife, a boat with no sail or motor to initiate movement to be great
So carry me wherever you dream
I shall be whatever my fate
I will follow through that gate and I will carry my fear but even with her on my hip
I will adhere. Like driftwood on the sea, going wherever the tide takes me
Slave to nature’s destiny
Even past death my eternity forever on the sea of life
Slave to destiny

BYE BYE SUMMER

Hello Verb Family!
Can you believe summer is almost gone already? The weather here in LA is already starting to cool down and the summer sky is losing its golden glow. I haven’t even had one plate of BBQ or slice of watermelon, haven’t been to a picnic or the beach either. I can honestly say though as much as I love summer I just can’t take the heat anymore so I guess it’s a good thing fall is rapidly approaching. Since we haven’t spoken since May I hope you all had a great 4th of July.
Since I’ve been telling you what I haven’t done guess you’re wondering what IS she doing LOL. Well I am working on several projects; the main ones are promoting If Hip Hop Spoke, Written’s CD and working hard to get Verb Radio back on the air. If you haven’t checked out the music yet (shame on you) please go by www.writtenrapgod.com and show Written some love. While you’re there don’t forget to sign up for the mailing list and street team. The website also has it’s own RSS feed you can sign up for so you will never be far from breaking news such as a new episode in And So It Is Written (new post today).
As far as getting Verb Radio up and running—it’s a challenge. Seems as though every time I overcome one obstacle another presents itself but ya’ll know me, I will make it work! I could really use some dedicated testers though, it would make things a lot easier and faster. All that’s required is an internet connection and speakers. I need a few folks who will be dedicated to logging onto the website Mon-Fri anytime between 7am-7pm as many times per day as possible and let me know if they are hearing the broadcast and if they are having any issues with the stream—that’s it. I may even be able to provide a small token for your dedication. If you’re interested drop me an email at lmforbes@ellenwrightgroup.com.
Well that’s about it for July! I will see you back here next month same time, same place, oh and if you have any BBQ or watermelon you can spare all donations proudly accepted. See you soon!
L.

WE'RE STILL HERE

Hi everybody! As promised here is our update for June, I know you didn't think I would leave you hanging. Well as I am sure you realize Verb Radio is still down for repairs which is a good thing because when we come back everything and I mean EVERYTHING will be brand new (except the host of course--smile). New music, new programming and maybe even a few new guest hosts so keep watching here and here for the latest news and updates.

COMING SOON: The Verb's Tuesday Tuneup on YouTube! Keep watching for more details!

Well we are still on the grind getting Written's CD If Hip Hop Spoke out to the masses. I hope that everyone reading this has signed up for the mailing list and or street team. If you haven't because you just didn't find the time why not do it while you're here? Everything you need is in the sidebar...isn't that convenient?

I hear a lot of people complaining about the quality of music on the radio and being tired of hearing the same old crap. Truth is there is an abundance of great music put there, the problem is lack of support. If we don't support the independent artists their work will never be heard in the mainstream. So--how do you show your support? Glad you asked. First join their mailing lists and street teams then get your friends, mothers, fathers, dogs and cats to join and then they get their...well you get the idea. You never have to buy a CD to promote an indie artist but you do have to show there are people out there who want to hear their music.

Once you join a street team or fan page don't just sit there and do nothing. Add the artists music widgets to your page, if they are coming to perform in your area support them and most of all call radio stations and tell them you want to hear them on the air. You can control the music that gets promoted but you have to do your part as a fan.

AND SO IT IS WRITTEN

Written's new monthly blog is here! Share his insights, passions rants and raves at www.writtenrapgod.com
Here is a sample of what you can expect:

What it do! For those who do not know me I am Written.

First, let me thank L. Marrie for all of her hard work in getting my music out. Thank you and keep doing what you do baby!

That being said, If Hip Hop Spoke is my brain, soul and music child. To me it fills the void that both mainstream and underground hip hop have forgotten. On this album I talk about the struggle of the streets and how hard it can be in the inner city. I also talk about the positive urge that we all have to move on in the face of adversity and I do my best to talk about the love and hate we all face in this world. I do my damndest to bring hip hops essence back to the battle rap days where lyrical ability took the forefront over hype.
I truly love Hip Hop.

A lot of people say that my baby is in a state of emergency, I say hip hop is an ever changing cultural phenomenon that keeps its cultural integrity and makes itself known...

WE ARE ON HIATUS AND HIP HOP TALKS A LOT

Hello friends and family. First I want to offer my deepest apologies for not keeping this blog up to date. As we all know life happens and things fall to the wayside including the things we love. Thank you all for continuing to check here often because even though I haven't been here you have and the hits to this blog have not stopped.
Now, you will be happy to know that the blog WILL be updated on a monthly basis so beginning--now LOL. From now on you can expect to read news, views and updates right here on a monthly basis around the 25th of each month.
So, now that we have taken care of being here...

The Verb will no longer be on the air. Why? Because we do not feel that we are providing the quality and consistency that we desire for our broadcasts. We have become increasingly more dissatisfied with our broadcasting platform and it's limitations, therefore we have chosen to suspend broadcasting until we are able to provide the quality broadcasting our listeners deserve.

How long is that going to take?
We don't know. But when we come back The Verb will be bigger, better, faster, stronger and provide more of everything you as listeners want from Internet Radio.

So you're just going to leave us hanging?
You know we would never do that! We love our fans, so until we return you can catch up on our older shows by listening to the archives at www.blogtalkradio.com/the-verb.
You can download all of our shows on iTunes so you can take The Verb where ever you go.

You can follow us on Twitter @verbradio for more updates and of course ALWAYS check back here for the latest on where we are and what we are doing!

We LOVE you guys and don't worry we will be back very soon!

P.S. More blog below listen to Written's new CD If Hip Hop Spoke.
